Privacy Policy

Privacy is extremely important to us, from both a personal and business perspective. We don't like when companies snoop on our Personally Identifiable Information (PII) without our knowledge, so we've developed a comprehensive Privacy Policy for you to understand how we collect, communicate, disclose, and make use of PII on our Services.

Chefpedia is a Data Controller of your information and may collect, store, and access PII you provide us through your use of our Services with your informed consent. Consent is given when you click on any interface designed to obtain informed consent. We will only collect, store, and access the minimal amount of PII as necessary to fulfill the obligations set forth in this Privacy Policy.

When provided, we collect the following information:

  • Registration information (first and/or last name, username, email addresses, passwords)
  • Comments in which you include personal information

  • IP address (anonymized in some cases, which we will outline in detail below).

Data Collection

We collect data from you when you submit it through any forms on our site (registration, log-in fields, comments, content/contest submissions), and information exchanges through our Services or email.

Data Storage

We store your data for the purposes outlined below. Login data is hashed before it transmits through HTTPS and SSL encryption to our databases. (Opt out). We also store some data as cookies in your local storage, which can be reviewed in our Cookie Policy below.

Purposes

Before collecting PII, we will identify the purposes for which information is being collected. Our collection and usage of PII is limited to fulfilling the purposes we specify and for any related purposes, unless we obtain prior, written consent of the individual concerned or as required by law enforcement. We will not use personal information to identify you, target you with personalized ads, or sell your data to third parties.

We will only use your information for the following purposes:

  • Provide optional features/access to areas of the Site
  • Provide important security notices or changes to our policies
  • Send newsletters to subscribed users
  • Record your submissions for contests and polls/surveys
  • Review aggregate usage of our Site though anonymized analytics, which is legitimate and necessary for us to provide constantly improving user experience
  • Any other uses which you provide informed consent.

Information about our policies and practices relating to the management of personal information is readily available to our users. Personal data is retained as long as necessary for the fulfillment of the purposes outlined in this policy. We protect personal information by using reasonable security safeguards against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.
